MSNBC signed a partnership with The Sporting News, to enable deep coverage of an even wider range of sports. The tagline “Where Real Fans Get Their Sports” aligned to the new features and analysis on the site. The characters from the ads pushed it further, gently ribbing superfans who had each gone too far and sacrificed too much to get close to the action.
