Newsletter emails and promotions worked in tandem on alternating weeks to spotlight holiday gift ideas for key community segments and to reward holiday season review-writing.

Viewpoints reputation system

Viewpoints began to acknowledge outstanding user contributions and indicate level of expertise to instill trust in other customers. High-achieving and up-and-coming members were awarded badges based on breadth of writing, among other accomplishments.

Alternate identity proposals for the V.I.P. program – some focus on identifying specific expert voices in the community, and others seek to foster competition through aspirational, even glitzy attributes.

Custom user badges, with the tone of each reflecting different recognition levels, community roles, and prize winners.
