Self-promotion HOLIDAY CARDS

Let’s keep in touch at the end of the year with fun artifacts that subvert expectations and invite their own creative responses in return.

The texture and artifacts from recent travels influence both holiday cards. Each contains a customized message to friends and an overview of the more interesting events from the destinations, as well as an area for the recipient to respond. The look of the itinerary and tickets appears eerily lifelike, almost counterfeited.

Mini annual report

This letter arrived as an itinerary sheet from a fake travel agency itinerary and “tickets” based on a long backpacking trip around Asia. The tickets were adhered color prints that looked and felt eerily like real tickets, with the exception of photography and travel writing on the front.

Highlighted entries correspond to the stapled ticket set included in the envelope.

The front side of the “tickets” showed notes from each destination, and the reverse side featured textures and items key to the notes on the front.

This pocket-sized annual report, based on my mantra of “Go Places And Eat Things,” tweaked the expected contents of an annual report. “Financial Highlights” and “Management's Discussion & Analysis” were replaced with imagery and travel writing from a long backpacking trip around Europe. An included proxy card invited an easily mailed response from each recipient.
